Description

Inconel 625 demonstrates an excellent combination of corrosion resistance and high strength. Due to the high nickel content, it is immune to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. It also has good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.Inconel 625 is a high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy known for its high level of strength, temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. This superalloy is composed mainly of nickel (≥58% ) followed by chromium, and molybdenum, niobium, iron, tantalum, cobalt, and trace amounts of manganese, silicon, aluminium, and titanium. The strength of Inconel 625 is derived from the solid-solution hardening of the nickel-chromium matrix by the presence of molybdenum and niobium. Therefore, precipitation-hardening treatments are not required.

Inconel 625 also commonly goes by the names: Haynes 625, Altemp 625, Nickelvac 625, and Nicrofer 6020.

Application

Inconel 625 can be used in a variety of applications including:

  • Aircraft ducting and exhaust systems
  • Engine thrust-reverser systems
  • Turbine shroud rings
  • Bellows, expansion joints
  • Gaskets and damper seals
  • Motorsport exhaust and clamps
  • Weld overlay and spacers for heat recovery systems
  • Furnace muffles
  • Valve seats and components
