Monel K500 is the most widely used precipitation strengthened version of the Nickel Copper family with controlled quantities of Titanium and Aluminium added during melting to the basic MONEL 400, these amplified properties, strength and hardness, are obtained by adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base and by a thermal processing used to effect precipitation, typically called age hardening or aging.
During the age hardening process, a small amount of Ni3 (titanium, aluminum) particles precipitated into the matrix. Monel K500’s low magnetic permeability, high strength and good corrosion resistance have been widely used, mainly oil well detector materials and electronic components.
An important feature is that the K-500 is still non-magnetic even at very low temperatures.

Monel K500 can be used in a variety of applications including: impellers, sea water pump shafts, and oil well industry for valve trim and other components.
